Is your desktop or laptop computer operating system constantly battling viruses and crashes or costing you an arm and leg in repair and licensing fees? Or are you using Windows 7, which soon will offer no tech support? If so, this class is for you. Linux is one of the most reliable, secure and worry-free operating systems available, and has zero-cost entry. You will learn by visual demonstration how to install and use Linux as an inexpensive alternative to Windows or other operating programs.

Dennis Arter is a retired engineer who has studied and used computers since 1984. Over the years, he has used TI, Apple, Macintosh, Windows, Linux, and Android machines. Dennis is an on-call tech support for his family and friends. A resident of Kennewick, he enjoys local hiking, biking, and musical events. Dennis has been married to the same girl for nearly 50 years.

101F19 Intro To Photography

Take your interest in digital photography to the next level. Over a series of classes, explore the basic photographic techniques and artistic concerns involved in making photographs. The light triad, composition, photography terms, basic accessories, and developing a photographic vision will be covered through lectures and demonstrations. Participants entering the class must have a digital camera with aperture priority, shutter priority and exposure compensation. It is highly recommended that you read your camera’s guidebook before attending class. Bring your camera. 

Mike Crow is a native Tri-Citian, who (excepting a half a decade gallivanting across the country) has been located right in the Columbia Basin.  He has been swinging a lens for just over a decade capturing landscapes, people, and other subjects.  Mike is an expert in Photoshop Post Processing as well the mechanical aspects of shooting in the field.  He owned a local studio for 2 years at one point, has won awards and ribbons on several online sites such as DPC and Pixoto and currently works for a local media company.

Learn how to back up and organize your mobile and digital photos. Get the most out of Google Photos by managing photo storage, using search functions, editing, and sharing your photos securely with friends and family. This mobile app is accessible from your smartphone, tablet or computer. It’s recommended that participants establish a Google account and download the Google Photos app before attending class. Desktop computers are provided, but you may bring your own personal device if you prefer.
