Put your fears of pressure canning aside! This demonstration class will walk participants through the steps to select the right pressure cooker for your needs, and when and how to use it. Safe operation of both a dial gauge and weighted gauge pressure canner will be discussed, as well as safe sources of pressure canning recipes for vegetables, beans, meats, fish, and poultry.

Learn how to create the perfect balance of fruit, sweetener, and other ingredients to enhance flavor and shelf life with research-based recipes. Low sugar and sugar-free recipes covered. After a short presentation on the basics, we will prepare and process a batch of jam. Everyone takes home a jar of just-made jam! Pay instructor $10 supply fee.

Marwa Jaber grew up in the Middle East, but moved from Florida to the Tri Cities a few years ago. She enjoys relaxing by the beach, traveling around the world is one of her dreams. She likes to spend time in the kitchen trying out recipes and creating new meals inspired by Middle Eastern culture. She is currently working on her master’s degree in special education.

Jennifer Brayton is a long-time resident of Kennewick and Pasco. She is the former owner and baker of Jennifer’s Bakery that was located in Richland. She is an avid tennis player, mother of four grown children, grandmother of three and works her business H2O at Home.

Are you tempted to grab a box of Rice-A-Roni or Hamburger Helper for a quick and easy meal? Those little boxes often contain high amounts of sodium and fat. Come to this class to learn to make knock-off recipes from scratch with wholesome ingredients that take very little additional time to prepare and serve, and cost less per serving. Sampling and recipes shared.

Kathleen Clary-Cooke is the Coordinator, CPST-I at Safe Kids Benton-Franklin. She spent a number of years as a Pampered Chef consultant, demonstrating and cooking delicious food for party hosts and their guests. She was an active parent volunteer in Kennewick Schools until her youngest child graduated in 2018.
