114F22 Pastels & Chalk Art


with Patrick Fleming

This class is dedicated to producing art using the traditional materials of pastels and chalk, which fall somewhere between drawing and painting. Participants will explore color, composition and the concept of art as communication. Bring your own object of inspiration if you desire. Ages 12+ allowed if accompanied by an adult also registered for the class.

Supply List: 

  • #2 or HB pencil      
  • Pick 2 or more of the following
    • Colored pencil set

    • Charcoal

    • Pastel set

    • Oil pastel set

    • Colored chalk set 

  • Paper
    • Copy paper      
    • 80 lb paper      
    • Optional-140 lb watercolor paper 


Patrick Fleming has over 50 years of experience as a professional illustrator and art teacher. As an experienced elementary through high school, college onto graduate school, art/art education instructor he emphasizes the very basics of design, drawing and color as applied to paintings. He emphasizes basic skills to allow learners to pursue their individual goals as artists. 

115F22 Beginning Watercolor

This watercolor class is suitable for the absolute adult beginner or as a refresher. Learn basic techniques in the morning and produce your first painting in the afternoon. The supply list is minimal so you can see if you like watercolors before spending a lot of money. Pay instructor $25 supply fee and bring a sack lunch.


Chris Blevins began watercolor painting in 2006 and fell in love with the fluidity and unpredictability of the art. More recently she discovered the creative art of working with alcohol inks. She was selected as one of the winners of the Abstract/Experimental category in The Artist’s Magazine.

205F22 Holiday Cookie Advent Calendar

Create a fun tradition for your family, friends and loved ones with a nine-day cookie advent calendar. Each participant will receive cookies and icing needed to build the structure of your advent calendar, along with sweet treats to add to each day. Templates and recipes will be provided.  Ages 5+ allowed if accompanied by an adult also registered for the class.


Lisa Sanchez is the creative mastermind behind Cakes By Lisa, LLC since forming in 2017. Lisa began decorating baked confectioneries over 10 years ago and had so many requests that she decided to make it an official business. Her custom specialties include celebration cakes, decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops.

Join us for an overview of Singapore, spanning British Colonialism to modern day, to learn about this fascinating city-state, now affectionately called the Little Red Dot.


Jill Gammon happily made Singapore her home from 2012-2021 while teaching in the international school system. She is currently an educator in a local school district.

Kim Johnson owns and operates Flowers by Kim. She started learning flower design in the late 90's and discovered a passion for bringing affordable arrangements to the Tri-Cities.

206F22 Chinese Dim Sum

Small bite-sized dishes just like you would find at a dim sum house. This hands-on class will make green onion pancakes, egg rolls and spicy, sour soup. Dim sum has its origins in China and dates back some 2,500 years. The concept may be very old, but the food will be fresh! Sampling and recipes shared.


Eva Hsia-Elwell is a graduate of Taiwan College. She teaches Oriental Torn Cotton Paper Art and Chinese cooking classes. Eva loves to share her passion for art and cooking with her classes by inviting them to have a hands-on experience.
