201S20 Cooking With Fresh Herbs

Are you interested in growing and using your own herbs in some of your favorite dishes, or looking to add some new recipes using fresh herbs? Join us as we make a variety of salads, a main dish and a light dessert, all using fresh garden herbs and pure essential oils for flavoring. You will be amazed at how easy it is to eat clean and healthy with ingredients you can grow yourself. Sampling and recipe booklets provided.

Lisa Douglas is the owner and operator of Puddle Ducks Herb Farm, LLC located in West Pasco. She has been growing and selling herbs for over 20 years. She uses them to create all natural bath products, as well as incorporating them into cooking and craft projects. She is also an advocate for using and sharing essential oils for a healthier lifestyle.

408S20 Pot of Gold Floral Design

Luck has it to join a local florist to learn the elements and principles of floral design with hands-on experience using fresh flowers and foliage. Participants in this class will create a St. Patrick’s holiday arrangement representing a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow using spring’s freshly bloomed flowers. Pay instructor $40 supply fee.

Warren Smith a Tri-Cities native, Warren has been designing and remodeling Tri-Cities kitchens and baths since 1981. He and his wife Connie own and operate Kitchen & Bath ReStylers in downtown Kennewick. Warren is a Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer and a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist. He is currently featured in Signature Kitchen & Bath Magazine - Fall -2016 Issue.

300S20 Crochet for Beginners

Master the basic crochet stitches that will enable you to create a wide variety of projects at home in this hands-on class. You’ll be hooked! The instructor will bring supplies the first night to get you started and send you home with a supply list for the following week.

Tamie Jamison is an avid crafter and enjoys a variety of mediums including knitting and crocheting.

206S20 Tabbouleh and Mahalabia

Bring your apron and be prepared to roll up your sleeves to make tabbouleh and mahalabia. Tabbouleh is a super fresh herb and bulgur salad that requires lots of chopped parsley and other fresh ingredients.  Mahalabia is an easy to make silky pudding dessert topped with pistachios. Sampling and recipes provided.

Marwa Jaber grew up in the Middle East, but moved from Florida to the Tri Cities a few years ago. She enjoys relaxing by the beach, traveling around the world is one of her dreams. She likes to spend time in the kitchen trying out recipes and creating new meals inspired by Middle Eastern culture. She is currently working on her master’s degree in special education.

 

 

 

224S20 Cuban Style

Jump out of the tracks of the mundane and join us for a night of traditional Cuban fare. The menu line-up includes congri, a black bean and rice dish; masitas, a marinated and sautéed pork dish; and tostones, deep-fried green plantains. You won’t need to leave the continent to experience the real taste. Sampling and recipes shared.

Join us to explore how fun and relaxing watercolor painting can be. Emphasis will be on drawing for your paintings, composition and color applied to watercolor, and mixing color and using it successfully. All skill levels welcome. See supply list on Community Education website.

Patrick Fleming has over 50 years of experience as a professional illustrator and art teacher. As an experienced elementary through high school, college onto graduate school, art/art education instructor he emphasizes the very basics of design, drawing and color as applied to paintings.  He emphasizes basic skills to allow learners to pursue their individual goals as artists.

Join us for a comprehensive look at Medicare and the various Health and Part D Plans offered in our area. Discussion around this vast topic will include important timelines, plan coverages, recent changes, and the ways Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 may affect Medicare beneficiaries.

Denise Sliger has been assisting local seniors for over 14 years with their Medicare insurance questions. She is a partner owner and founder of Senior Benefits Solutions for the past 10 years. She is licensed in both Washington and Oregon.

Urszula Kobiesa has been assisting local seniors for over 14 years with their Medicare insurance questions. She is a partner owner and founder of Senior Benefits Solutions for the past 10 years. She is licensed in both Washington and Oregon.
