110F22 Tunisian Ten Stitch Blanket

with Heather Olson

Calendar Oct 5, 2022 at 6:30 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Tunisian crochet is an old method, dating from the 1800s, and is a cross between crocheting and knitting. This project is done in a spiral format, working in 10-stitch passes except for the corners. If you know how to crochet and knit, this is a perfect blend of the two techniques. For those who only know how to knit, this is a natural progression into crochet methods. Those who know standard crochet will be very surprised as to how easy this method is. Students can use standard aluminum crochet hooks for this project (unfortunately, not ergonomic ones). If there’s enough time, we’ll start a second project (a scarf) with a different Tunisian crochet stitch.

Supply List

Heather Olson has been crocheting for 46 years, having created many projects from scarves and shawls to full-sized afghans. She’s familiar with standard crocheting methods as well as mosaic crochet and Tunisian crochet. Heather is well versed in fiber arts as I quilt, weave, cross-stitch, perform beadwork as well as macrame.
